‘Kheti Wahi, Tareeke Naye, Kamai Behtar’ – initiative recognises farmers adopting modern and sustainable farming practices

Nellore, (Andhra Pradesh) [India],  08 October 2026: Kisani Urjaa successfully organised the Nellore Edition of ‘Kisani Urjaa Samriddhi’ on 6 and 7 October, recognising and felicitating farmers who participated in its Adarsh Kisani Khet Initiative and adopted modern and sustainable farming practices during the current crop season.

Built around the philosophy “Kheti Wahi, Tareeke Naye, Kamai Behtar,” the initiative aims to help farmers improve farm outcomes by combining their traditional farming experience with newer, more organised and sustainable farming techniques.

Combining modern technology with farmers’ traditional knowledge and equipping rural communities with practical skills can create opportunities for better farm incomes and rural entrepreneurship. Through on-ground demonstrations and support from Kisani Didis, Kisani Urjaa is working to help farmers adopt improved practices and strengthen their livelihoods.

Through the Adarsh Kisani Khet Initiative, Kisani Urjaa is currently working across 64 villages in India, providing farmers with practical, on-ground demonstrations of improved farming methods. The initiative follows a risk-supported model, encouraging farmers to adopt recommended practices while Kisani Urjaa provides support against defined losses arising from initiative-led interventions.

It has been observed in Nellore that farmers participating in the initiative have seen an additional average monetary return in the range of ₹6,000–₹8,000 per acre during the current crop season. These are indicative observations from the initiative at this stage. Farmers associated with the initiative were felicitated during the two-day Kisani Urjaa Samriddhi event for adopting improved practices and contributing to stronger farming communities.

“Kheti Wahi, Tareeke Naye, Kamai Behtar” reflects what we are trying to achieve. We work alongside farmers to introduce practical improvements, reduce the risk of trying new techniques and create opportunities for better farm income. Our Kisani Didis play a critical role in this journey, acting as a bridge between Kisani Urjaa and farmers. They work closely with farming communities, helping farmers understand and adopt improved farming practices. In the process, they are not only strengthening our grassroots connect but also earning the trust and respect of farmers in their communities. Kisani Urjaa Samriddhi is about recognising both the farmers who are leading this change on the ground and the Kisani Didis who are enabling it.”
